{"id":20,"date":"2004-07-23T17:12:03","date_gmt":"2004-07-23T21:12:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shadow.sombragris.org\/?p=20"},"modified":"2004-07-23T17:49:15","modified_gmt":"2004-07-23T21:49:15","slug":"that-80s-music","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/shadow.sombragris.org\/?p=20","title":{"rendered":"That 80&#8217;s music"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I saw <a href=\"http:\/\/likethelanguage.mu.nu\/archives\/038217.php\">this post<\/a> in Rae&#8217;s blog about some 80&#8217;s favorite songs and, strangely, it stroke a chord.<\/p>\n<p>Looking back to the 80&#8217;s, I am surprised to find pop music that was of actually good quality, even if it had some objectionable content. I find that today there are lots of &#8220;retro&#8221; radio stations, and ads are filled with 80&#8217;s music. Why today&#8217;s pop have to be of such a bad quality?<\/p>\n<p>But I digress. Here&#8217;s my <em>very partial<\/em> list of 80&#8217;s songs:<\/p>\n<ul \n\n<li><strong>A-ha<\/strong>: The blood that moves the body &#8211; Take me on &#8211; Stay on these roads<\/p>\n<li><strong>Al Corley<\/strong>: Square rooms\n<li><strong>The Alan Parsons Project<\/strong>: Don&#8217;t Answer Me &#8211; Eye in the Sky (and many others)\n<li><strong>Alphaville<\/strong>: Big in Japan &#8211; Sounds like a Melody\n<li><strong>Camouflage<\/strong>: Love is a Shield\n<li><strong>Duran Duran<\/strong>: Save a Prayer\n<li><strong>Erasure:<\/strong>: A little respect &#8211; Oh L&#8217;amour\n<li><strong>Europe<\/strong>: The Final Countdown\n<li><strong>A Flock of Seagulls<\/strong>: The more you live the more you love\n<li><strong>Hall &#038; Oates<\/strong>: Maneater\n<li><strong>Huey Lewis and The News<\/strong>: I Want a New Drug\n<li><strong>Laura Branigan<\/strong>: Gloria &#8211; Self-control\n<li><strong>Men at Work<\/strong>: Overkill &#8211; Down Under\n<li><strong>OMD<\/strong>: Enola Gay and <em>many<\/em> others\n<li><strong>Peter Schilling<\/strong>: Major Tom\n<li><strong>Queen<\/strong>: Radio Ga Ga &#8211; I want to Break Free\n<li><strong>Thompson Twins<\/strong>: Doctor!
